Southwest Credit Card Services is one of the
oldest, largest, and most experienced private buyers of delinquent
debt. To date we have bought well over a billion dollars in
distressed debt.
SWCC was formed by a small group of debt
collection professionals over ten years ago when we first
purchased a Visa portfolio of more than $4 million of delinquent
accounts.
Since then we have seen many new debt buyers
come in with a bang and disappear a very short time later. We have
succeeded where others have failed because of consistent growth,
common sense acquisitions, and our "Kinder-Gentler" approach to
the debtors of the accounts we have bought. We typically buy
portfolios in the $4,000,000 to $200,000,000 range. The larger
portfolios allow us to have plenty of accounts to manage during
those periods when the newest inexperienced buyer is busy
self-destructing by paying an unrealistic price for portfolios --
just to feed their machine.
For cooperative debtors, we will stop all
interest if they will agree to, and comply with, a reasonable
payment arrangement. In certain situations, we have settled debts
for a lump sum payment of considerably less than the current
balance.
We generally will only own and effect
collection on our accounts for six to eighteen months. After that
period those debtors who haven't settled their account, or
committed to a reasonable payment arrangement, or that we have not
obtained a judgment on, are resold to Collection Attorneys or
other debt collection entities.
